Interim Rock Valley CSD Superintendent Is Former Sheldon CSD Superintendent

Rock Valley, Iowa — Students going back to school in Rock Valley this Tuesday will meet a new superintendent. Well, a new interim superintendent anyway. And his name will be a familiar one to many Sheldon area residents.

Former Rock Valley Community School District Superintendent Chad Janzen has resigned his position to take another. The Butterfield, Minnesota native is now Superintendent at Sergeant Bluff-Luton Community Schools. The 47-year-old administrator says there are nearly twice as many students at Sergeant Bluff-Luton, and he will get a pay increase. He served the Rock Valley community for 11 years.

Taking his place until another permanent superintendent can be hired at Rock Valley is former Sheldon Community School District Superintendent Robin Spears. The idea is that Spears will serve for one year and that a permanent superintendent will be in place by July 1, 2023.
