Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association Postpones Induction Ceremony

Arnolds Park, Iowa — Another event has fallen victim to the pandemic. The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association now says they will postpone the Induction of the 2020 Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association’s Hall of Fame Inductees.

According to Clay Norris, Executive Director of the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association, “Due to the recent resurgence of COVID-19 in the Iowa Great Lakes Area, as well as in many states, cities, and regions in the US, our Board of Directors and staff has decided to postpone the Labor Day weekend 2020 Induction Ceremonies. Safety for our Inductees, our staff and volunteers, and our patrons is and always has been our top priority.”

He says some of the inductees had told them that they were not planning to come to Okoboji this year due to concerns from COVID-19. A few of the board members and others have indicated the same, according to Norris. He says, “Logic would also dictate that the attendance would be down, and none of that would properly honor the Hall of Fame Class of 2020 and their many fine achievements.”

He says the plan as of right now is to postpone the 2020 Class Induction to Memorial Day weekend, 2021, and then celebrate the Induction of the 2021 Class on Labor Day weekend, 2021, as usual. According to Norris, this plan could change depending upon the course of the virus going into 2021.
