Iowa State Patrol To Hire More Troopers

Iowa State Patrol CarNorthwest Iowa — For the past several years, state budget cuts have forced the Iowa State Patrol to cut the number of Troopers serving on the Patrol.  To accomplish the cuts in Trooper numbers, Troopers who reached retirement age and left the Patrol, were not replaced with new Troopers.  That trend is about to end, though, according to Iowa State Patrol Trooper Vince Kurtz.

Kurtz says the Patrol will be hiring new Troopers to go into an academy class sometime next spring.

He says there is a list of qualifications that applicants for the Trooper positions must meet.

Trooper Kurtz says he’s very excited that the Patrol is in a position now to finally replace some of the Troopers who have retired over the last several years.

The next Iowa Department of Public Safety Academy Class will begin May 26th of next year.  For more information, click here.
