ISP & Triple-A Offer CELLslips To Help Avoid Distracted Driving

Northwest Iowa — The Iowa State Patrol and Triple-A Iowa have joined in partnership to provide drivers with a tool designed to help prevent distracted driving.

The devices are called “CELLslips”, and take advantage of a new technology to help avoid districted driving.  Iowa State Patrol Trooper Vince Kurts explains the devices.

Kurtz says the Patrol, along with Triple-A, are giving away CELLslips across the state, free of charge.

He says that, beginning next week, CELLslips will be available, while supplies last, at the KIWA Studios in uptown Sheldon.

Kurtz says the release of the CELLslips by Triple-A, the Iowa State Patrol, and KIWA are timed for just prior to the states new distracted driving law, which goes into effect July 1st.

Trooper Kurtz says legislators included the new distracted driving law as a reckless driving offense.

The new distracted driving law goes into effect Saturday, July 1st.  A limited number of the CELLslips will be available, free of charge, at the KIWA Studios after Monday, June 26th.
