Ames, Iowa — It’s now winter. According to the Iowa Department of Transportation, that is.
Iowa DOT Winter Operations Administrator Craig Bargfrede says the DOT is ready for it, and they’ve been planning for several months.
He tells us some of the things that entails.
Bargfrede says that for them, winter begins on October 15th.
He tells us that they’re still looking for more snowplow operators, especially if you’re CDL certified.
In our area, the three DOT Maintenance Garages are in Alton, Ashton, and Rock Rapids, and the supervisor for all three is Lance Schlumbohm.
