Jimmy John’s To Come To Sheldon

Sheldon, Iowa — Jimmy John’s — the sandwich restaurant — is coming to Sheldon. That from the man bringing it here — Houston Hartwig.

Hartwig says he and his family own both the Sheldon and Sioux Center Hardee’s, so they are quite familiar with Sheldon. He says he’s looking forward to bringing Jimmy John’s to Sheldon because they’ve done business in Sheldon with their Hardee’s location for many years, and the town supports it really well. He says with Northwest Iowa Community College growing, that’s another positive. And, he says the traffic that Sheldon gets with Highway 60 is also a plus. Hartwig owns the Sioux Center Jimmy John’s and one in Storm Lake.

Hartwig says he’s been working with Sheldon Development Director Curt Strouth for some time now to bring Jimmy John’s to town. He says that at this time, they have two or three locations that they are considering, and those are not public information at this time. We asked him if they will be building a new building, adding on, or using an existing building. He told us that all options are still on the table as far as that goes.

Optimistically, Hartwig says they’d like to open the Sheldon Jimmy John’s location this fall. But he says he’d think that they’d for sure be open no later than spring, 2021.
