KIWA Stations Under New Ownership

Sheldon, Iowa — The KIWA family of stations; AM-1550, FM-100.7 and FM 105.3 are now under new ownership. As of today, Thursday, June 1st, the KIWA stations are now members of the Community First Broadcasting family.

KIWA General Manager Tom Traughber says listeners won’t notice any major changes in KIWA’s broadcasts, nor in the personnel delivering their news, sports and entertainment programming on the KIWA stations.

KIWA-AM 1550 was originally put on the air in October of 1961, with FM-105.3 and FM-100.7 put on the air in later years.  With the sale, Community First becomes only the second owner of the KIWA stations, after 61-plus years of ownership by the Stangland family of Sioux Falls.

The sale also brings to an end another era in KIWA’s history.  Longtime President and General Manager Walt Pruiksma is heading off into a well-deserved retirement.  Congratulations Walt, and thanks for your 50 years of service to the KIWA stations.
