Lewis & Clark May Receive Funding Increase

Northwest Iowa — The Lewis & Clark Regional Water System has received some news that may be indicative of future funding. And the news is good.

Congress approved the Fiscal Year 2020 budget this past week. Lewis & Clark Executive Director Troy Larson says thanks in large part to the strong support and leadership of the tri-state congressional delegation, the budget includes at least some money for Lewis & Clark.

Larson breaks that down for us.

We asked Larson to “peer into his crystal ball” and tell us when he expects the remaining systems to be connected if the funding stays the same.

According to Larson, it will certainly be big news when all the communities are connected, but that will not be the end of the story. He says the federal funding advances that they received from the states will have to be repaid, and there is still some infrastructure work to be done. He says they hope those loose ends will all be tied up in the next ten years.
