Sheldon, Iowa — For the past few weeks the Sheldon Area Ministerial Association has been planning to hold an Easter Morning Drive-In Worship Service in the parking lot at Sheldon Community High School. And now, taking into account the weekend weather forecast, the Pastors say the service WILL happen, regardless of the weather.
Sheldon United Methodist Church Pastor Kevin Gingerich says it’s very important at this time, especially with everything going on around us, the come together as a family of faith on the most important day of the Christian calendar.
(As above) “It is the quintessential celebration day of the Christian life, and it is why we are Christians. Celebrating the resurrection of our lord of our savior, and it’s a time that we all need to be together and in this time of not being able to be together physically, we can gather together in cars.”

(As above) “We’re going to be meeting at ten o’clock on Sunday morning Easter Sunday and we’re going to be treated to a service of worship there will be music, and there will be various speakers that will be bringing the sermon and children sermon and a lot of different things that were hoping many in our community will gather at the high school parking lot at ten o’clock and join us via their cars.”
In light of the weather forecast for Easter morning, while congregants will be gathering in cars in the high school parking lot, the pastors have opted to move inside, and will conduct the service from a separate location. They urge you, however, to still gather at the high school parking lot for the 10:00 am service. Please enter the parking lot from the south entrance. Once parked, please remain in your vehicle with the windows rolled up, and any sunroofs or convertible tops closed. Then tune your radio to any of KIWA’s three stations, 1550 AM, 100.7 FM, or 105.3 FM, and take part in the service via your car’s radio.
