Myer Talks About Turf Upgrade Project

Sheldon, Iowa — The initial phase of the  Sheldon Community Schools – Northwest Iowa Community College Turf Upgrade Project is closing in on its goal.

Sheldon Community Schools Superintendent Cory Myer says the fundraising phase for the $1.4 million project is nearing completion.

Myer tells us about the project’s next phase.

He says he finds it exciting that, through the collaboration on the Turf Project with Northwest Iowa Community College, collegiate sports will be coming to Sheldon.

He says he is thrilled with the partnership between the school district NCC and the City of Sheldon on making the Turf Project a reality.

The Turf Upgrade Project will convert the current Orab football field from sod to artificial turf, making it more conducive to use by the Orab soccer program, Orab marching band for hosting marching band contests, and will allow NCC to field a collegiate soccer team.

Myer says a public hearing will be held, and bids approved, during the regular January meeting of the Sheldon School Board.
