New Restaurant To Open In Old 60 Steaks & Chops Location

Sheldon, Iowa — Kinbrae South, The Iron Horse, Obadiah’s, Old 60 Steaks & Chops, and more — many great restaurants have served Sheldon and the surrounding community from the property at 1113 2nd Avenue in Sheldon. And now another restaurant is going to be located there.

Tasty Good Brands, LLC is pleased to announce the future opening of the Big Four Steakhouse in this historic location. Officials with the company tell us the restaurant will focus on locally-sourced, seasonal, quality ingredients in a comfortable, family atmosphere while celebrating the region’s history.

They tell us that the management of the restaurant will be led by Sheldon resident Kitty Campbell, who first worked at this location when it was the Iron Horse Supper Club, and who has had a decades-long career in restaurant management and food service talent acquisition since that time.

Campbell says she has been told that she has a romantic view of the restaurant business. She says that includes the gathering of family and friends over meals prepared with love and care, a perfect bottle of wine, laughter and great conversation. According to Campbell, she believes in the “dining” experience; spending time at meals, lingering over courses, and not rushing through. She says, “So yeah, I guess I do have a romantic view of the restaurant business and my hope is that Big Four Steakhouse brings you the dining experience that encompasses that feeling and reminds us that meals are meant to be shared.”

They tell us that the name “Big Four” Steakhouse represents multiple ties with local history referencing the Sheldon Mills flour brand “Big 4” – one of several brands that included the infamous “Prairie Queen” flour and the Big 4 Co-op, which was named for the four participating counties of Lyon, Osceola, Sioux, and O’Brien. They say that Big Four Steakhouse has its own “Big Four” — reflected in their specialties of steak, chops, chicken, and fish. The menu will also feature appetizers, burgers and sandwiches, soups, salads, and desserts. The bar will offer specialty drinks, a variety of beers, and fun, interesting wine offerings. And they tell us their four areas of service will include the steakhouse, catering, Sunday brunch, and in-house events. The slogan they have chosen rings familiar too — Big Four Steakhouse: “Where families come together.”

No opening date has yet been announced.
