Sioux City, Iowa — A northwest Iowa man has pleaded guilty to a federal charge of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 37-year-old Jason Werner of Cherokee admitted during court hearings to distributing at least 1.5 kilograms of the drug from December 2019 through May 2022. He also admitted to helping six others obtain about four pounds of methamphetamine and one pound of marijuana from sources in California and Nevada and transporting it to Cherokee in a hidden compartment in a vehicle for further distribution in northwest Iowa.
Sentencing for Werner is pending completion of a pre-sentence report. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison.
