OCCS Principal Spends Chilly Day, Night On School’s Roof

Orange City, Iowa — An Orange City elementary principal spent Monday on the roof of the school instead of inside.

Mr. Jason Alons says his roof stay was connected to some fundraising for a building project that Orange City Christian School is doing.

He says he even sleeps on the roof.

According to Alons, the weather hasn’t been too bad, although it could have been more cooperative.

Alons says that he even participated in a s’mores party from the roof, which was a prize for the student sections that raised the most money in a coin challenge.

Alons tells us that phase one of the construction project is two additional classrooms and an additional music room. He says ground-breaking will take place once 75% of the $2-million cost has been received in cash or pledges.
