One Death, Eight New Cases In Saturday’s COVID Report

Northwest Iowa — One new death and eight new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the four-county area on Saturday, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health.

The latest reported fatality was a resident of Osceola County and brings that county’s death toll to twelve since the pandemic began. Fatality numbers in the other three counties include 61 in Sioux County, 54 in O’Brien and 34 in Lyon County, for a total of 161 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

A total of eight new cases of COVID-19 were reported Saturday: three in Sioux County; two each in O’Brien and Lyon Counties; and one in Osceola County.

Of the 1,394 Lyon County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 1,242 have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 89%.
Of the 4,623 Sioux County residents who have tested positive, 4,314 have recovered, for a rate of about 93%.
Of the 1,724 O’Brien County residents to test positive, 1,552 have recovered, for a rate of about 90%.
Of the 653 Osceola County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 607 have recovered, for a rate of about 93%.
