One New Death and 21 New Positive COVID Test Results Here Tuesday

Northwest Iowa — One new death and twenty-one new positive results for COVID-19 were reported in the four northwesternmost Iowa counties on Tuesday, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health.

Eight new positive results were reported in Sioux County, seven in Lyon County, four in O’Brien County and two in Osceola County. About twelve percent of northwest Iowans have tested positive for COVID since March 2020. Roughly one person in eight in this area has tested positive at some point since that time. Health officials remind us that the numbers only indicate people who have had a COVID test that came back positive. As with any other disease, the actual number of people who have had the disease is thought to be much higher.

The death was that of an Osceola County resident. O’Brien County’s death total remains at 54, and Sioux’s remains at 67. Lyon’s remains at 40, while Osceola’s is now 14. The death toll for the area is at 175 since the pandemic began.

Out of the 1,430 Lyon County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 1,336 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 93%.
