One New Death And Thirteen New COVID Cases Reported Here On Friday

Northwest Iowa — One new death and thirteen new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the four northwesternmost Iowa counties on Friday, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health.

They report that the death was a resident of Sioux County. The death toll for the area is now at 168 since the pandemic began. The death totals are 54 in O’Brien County, 65 in Sioux County, 37 in Lyon County, and 12 in Osceola County.

There were six new cases reported in Sioux County, four in Lyon, three in O’Brien, and none in Osceola County. About twelve percent of northwest Iowans have tested positive for COVID since March 2020. Roughly one person in eight in this area has tested positive at some point since that time.

Out of the 1,406 Lyon County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 1,280 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 91%.
Out of the 4,657 Sioux County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 4,412 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 95%.
Out of the 1,743 O’Brien County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 1,607 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 92%.
Out of the 655 Osceola County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 616 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 94%.

Osceola County currently has 27 active cases, down two. There were 82 in O’Brien County, which is down nine, and 89 in Lyon County, which is down six from the previous day. Sioux County has 180 active cases, which is down six.
