Orab Band & Choir Shine At Large Group Festival

Sheldon, Iowa — It was a very good day for Sheldon High School musicians Saturday as they competed in the Iowa State Large Group Music Festival in Sioux City,

Both band and choir students perform for a 3-judge panel, with each judge scoring the group on a 40-point scale, arriving at a final rating. Both the Orab Band and Choir received Division I, Superior ratings.

The Sheldon High School Choir faced the judges at 9:15 Saturday morning. Choir Director Caitlin Hanson talks about the three musical pieces her students performed for the judges.

Following their performance the judges award individual scores of 39, 39, and 39, combining for a unanimous Division I rating.

At 10:20 Saturday morning the Sheldon High School Band performed in front of their three-judge panel. Band Director Cliff St. Clair tells us about the two musical selections his band performed for the judges.

Following the Orab band’s performance, the judges awarded them with indivdual scores of 37, 39, and 37, for a unanimous Division I rating.

Congratulations to the Sheldon High School musicians who competed in the State Large Group Music Festival Saturday at Sioux City West High School.

Sheldon, Iowa — Approximately seventy-five to eighty Sheldon High School musicians will be taking part in the State Large Group Music Festival Saturday morning in Sioux City.

Orab Band Director Cliff St. Clair tells us more.

St. Clair talks about the music his students will be performing at Saturday’s festival.

Orab Choral Director Caitlin Hanson talks about the songs her students will be performing at the Large Group Festival.

The Large Group Music Festival will be held Saturday at Sioux City West High School, with the Orab choir performing at 9:15, and the band taking the stage at 10:20.
