UPDATE: Orange City Furniture Store Closing To Make Way For New Store

Orange City, Iowa — An Orange City Furniture Store that has been in business for nearly 80-years will be closing this summer to make way for a new store in the same location.

Dan Kraai’s father opened Kraai Furniture in 1939, and it has been an Orange City institution ever since. Dan Kraai says he and his wife, Kathy, are planning to retire.

He says they are looking forward to the next chapter in their lives.

Daniel Ten Clay of Northwest Decor & Furniture in Sheldon, tells KIWA that his family will open a new store called TC Home Furnishings in the current Kraai Furniture building in September of this year, after Kraai’s complete their Going Out Of Business Sale this summer.

Orange City, Iowa — For the first time in nearly 80-years, Kraai Furniture in Orange City will be owned by someone outside the Kraai family.

Dan Kraai says his family business has been sold, and he and his wife, Kathy, are preparing to retire.

Kraai tells us who the new Kraai Furniture owners will be.

He says the sale will be effective in a few weeks.

Kraai says he and Kathy will be staying in Orange City in their retirement, and are looking forward to the next chapter in their lives.

Kraai Furniture was opened in 1939 by Dan’s father, the late Mert Kraai.
