Des Moines, Iowa — The 2019 Orange City Tulip Court has started their ambassador visits promoting this year’s Orange City Tulip Festival, which will be the third weekend in May.
This past week, Rep. Skyler Wheeler (R-Orange City) welcomed the Orange City Tulip Court to the Iowa House of Representatives. The Tulip Court promotes the Tulip Festival at several venues before the festival, including the Iowa State Capital in Des Moines, and several area television and radio stations.
Organizers say the festival, which this year will be held Thursday, May 16th, through Saturday, May 18th, is Orange City’s “annual springtime gift to friends everywhere; when thousands of visitors enjoy recalling, for a day, the gentle charm of the old world and catch a new glimpse of the old Dutch customs.”
Volunteer opportunities exist for people for the Night Show production, Dutch Heritage Walk, Parade Coordination, Parade announcing, Floral arranging, Mode Show/Straatfeest walkers, shuttle van driving, or even a tour guide for the Oranjestad Paardentram or horse-drawn trolley.
