Doon, Iowa — Over 400 people were able to take a train ride on Saturday from Doon to Garretson, South Dakota, and back.
Burlington Northern Santa Fe spokesperson Andy Williams says they didn’t want to advertise it, so it came as a surprise to many. He tells us it was a community appreciation trip.
He gives us some details of the trip.
He says when they returned to Doon, there was a patriotic event including a balloon launch, the Pledge of Allegiance, and the National Anthem. He says it was nice for BNSF to be able to be a part of that and to help them celebrate their history in Doon.
