Passing Ambulance Takes Crash Victim To Hospital

Larchwood, Iowa — A passing ambulance gave aid to a crash victim near Larchwood and took him to a hospital, and then he was taken into custody on an OWI charge.

On Friday, February 20th at approximately 8:30 PM, the Lyon County Ambulance was driving to Rock Rapids when they observed a car in the ditch at the intersection of Highway 9 and Cherry Avenue near Larchwood. The ambulance stopped and EMT’s provided medical assistance to the driver of the vehicle, 24-year-old Justin Schwarz of Worthington, MN. Schwarz was then transported to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

After he was released from the hospital, he was subsequently arrested by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Department and charged with Operating While Intoxicated.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by Larchwood Fire, Larchwood Rescue, and the Lyon County Ambulance.
