Paullina, Iowa — Several summertime festivals are not taking place this year, due to the pandemic. But some of them are still on. One of them is this weekend’s Paullina Gemboree.
Paullina City Clerk Sandy Fritz says they did have to make some changes.
(As said, “We had to add some additional safety precautions like hand-washing stations and cleaning of the items in the park every so often, and also things will be marked out so people social distance the necessary 6 feet. So we have done a few things and the food vendors, they’re going to come, they need to follow all the rules also.”)
She tells us what they have planned.
(As said, “On Friday night the 26th, starting at 6:00 pm, there will be a cornhole tournament in the city park. And then there will also be a beer and beverage garden there and then there will also be live music from a band called Trust, and they start at 7:00 pm and that goes until 11:00 pm on Friday night. People are supposed to bring their own lawn chairs. On Saturday, the 27th, the parade starts at 1:00 pm, and people if they want to come they can line up down by the Zion Church on the south end of town about 12:30 pm. Then after that there’s games in the park, there’s carnival rides, and inflatables, and KZ the clown will be there for the kids, a train, and a Ferris wheel, and also a dunk tank. The fire department will be having a rib cook-off down in the park also, and then people will be able to sample that. And then there’s fireworks over Paullina Lake at dusk.”)
