RiseFest Preparing For COVID Contingencies

Sheldon, Iowa — In a normal year, RiseFest, the Christian music festival held annually in Sheldon, would have taken place LAST weekend. However, with this year’s COVID-19 pandemic, organizers opted to postpone the festival until Labor Day weekend, when it will coincide with Sheldon’s Celebration Days.

Since, at least at this point, the COVID-19 situation is still a concern, Rob Roozeboom of RISE Ministries, the parent organization of RiseFest, says they have a COVID Task Force looking for contingencies for the September festival.

(As above) “We have put together a COVID task force, and so we’re looking at okay how can we still host the festival live, do it a little bit different but stick with those social distancing procedures? We actually went out and measured the grounds about a week ago and the beautiful thing is, we have a ton of space.”

Roozeboom says there will be some changes to the Kids’ Zone for RiseFest 2020.

(As above) “One area that we’ve had to change up a little bit is the Kids’ Zone. We’ve decided there won’t be any inflatables this year, but that doesn’t mean we still don’t want kids there. We’re actually looking at the option of do-it-yourself bags for the kids. And so, no you won’t have all the awesome things that kids don’t usually have but we still want to make it a great experience for them. So things like do it yourself bags, and of course we’re looking at other areas and and following procedures accordingly, but our prayer is that, yeah this is gonna happen live Labor Day weekend here in Sheldon.”

He says the partnership formed with the City of Sheldon when RiseFest 2020 was forced to postpone their festival, has truly been a blessing.

(As above) “That’s the beautiful thing we have here in this community, is just a partnership and we find that extremely valuable and we’re grateful that they would consider, you know, allowing us to be a part of their Celebration Days, and hopefully because we had to make this transition this year, it will be a blessing in many ways. You know, activities from Friday all the way through Monday.”

Roozeboom says if you haven’t bought your RiseFest 2020 tickets, their Early-Bird Ticket Special is still available.

(As above) “We have extended our early-bird special through June 30th. That means you can get tickets for $32.50 when you buy ten or more, or $35.00 individually and going back to kids, kids ten and under are still free to get in.”

RiseFest 2020 is scheduled for Labor Day Weekend, Friday September 5th and Saturday September 6th at the RiseFest Grounds in northeast Sheldon. It’s being held this year in conjunction with Sheldon Celebration Days.
