Pool Transformation Underway In Sibley

Sibley, Iowa — A “new” pool with many modern features is in progress for the residents of Osceola County. The old Sibley City Pool is being transformed into the Osceola County Aquatic Center this summer.

Cory Dykstra, who is the City of Sibley’s Water Superintendent and Pool Renovation Project Manager, tells us they are about a week into the preliminary phases of the renovation.

He tells us what the workers will be doing over the next few weeks.

Dykstra says while the aquatic center will be mostly complete by October, there will probably be some finishing touches to wrap up about a year from now.

He tells us that the facility will be packed with features for bathers to enjoy.

Dykstra says the footprint of the pool will be very similar. The old pool will remain at the bottom, with a membrane and then a textured PVC liner.

He says the whole community deserves credit for the pool project.

The pool part of the project is estimated to cost $2.1 million, with the bathhouse renovation estimated to cost $400,000 to $500,000, he says.

Dykstra says that while there will be no public pool in Sibley this summer, they have contracted with the AmericInn of Sibley to use their pool for some swimming lessons while the facility is under construction.
