Pretrial Conference Postponed For Steen, MN Man Charged With Sex Abuse Of A Minor

Rock Rapids, Iowa — The trial for a Steen, Minnesota man charged with sex abuse of a minor in Lyon County has been pushed back.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the Lyon County Clerk of Court’s Office by the county sheriff’s office, 21-year-old Ender Murray of Steen is accused of sexual contact with a victim who was 13 and 14 years of age during the incidents in late 2022 and early 2023. He was arrested in July.

In a statement, the deputy says that in addition to the alleged sexual contact, Murray is also accused of crashing his car into a headstone at the Lester cemetery, causing over $1500 in damage.

Murray was charged with second-degree sexual abuse, a class B felony; two counts of lascivious acts with a child, a class C felony; third-degree sexual abuse of a victim at least four years younger, also a class C felony; and second-degree criminal mischief, a class D felony. In Iowa, the penalty for class B felonies is 25 years in prison if convicted. For class C it’s ten years, and for class D it’s five years.

A pre-trial conference was to have been held on December 4th, but that has been continued to January 29th, 2024.

At last report, Murray remained in the Lyon County Jail in Rock Rapids.
