Public Hearings And Water Rate Increase On Council’s Agenda

community services center 300pxSheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council will meet at Noon this Wednesday, June 3rd, with two public hearings on the agenda. One is a hearing on a budget amendment. The City says this amendment is needed because some projects were not completed in the previous fiscal year and were carried over to the current fiscal year. In addition, the amended budget will reflect the paying off of a high interest bond and the fact that revenues have been higher than anticipated due to rate increases in certain areas. The City says there will be no increase in tax levies to be paid in the current fiscal year because of this amendment.  The second hearing will be on Runger Addition street improvements.

In other business the Council will address the second reading of a water and sewer ordinance which will increase the rates for all users by an average of three percent. And, they will set the Date and Time to consider the sale of property.

Wednesday’s noon meeting will be held in the upper level of the Sheldon Community Services Center.
