Rock Rapids Theatre Preservation Project Tries For $100-thousand Prize

RAPIDS TheatreRock Rapids, Iowa — Voting began Wednesday in an online contest that could mean a $100-thousand windfall for the Rock Rapids Theatre Preservation Society.

Jackie Telford from the Theatre Preservation Society tells us about the Gannett Publishing contest called “Community Thrives”.

Projects from across the United States are competing for the prizes in this contest, and Telford tells us what is at stake.

She says that a lot of work has been done on the theatre property already, but there is much left to do, and one of these cash prizes could help them achieve a great deal.

Telford says that whether or not the Rock Rapids Theatre Preservation Society wins one of the Community Thrives prizes, they are committed to completing the theatre renovation project.

Voting in the Community Thrives Contest opened Wednesday, April 12th, and runs through May 12th.  You are permitted to vote for your favorite project once each day.

You can vote for the Rock Rapids Theatre Preservation project by clicking on this link, which will take you directly to the Theatre Preservation Society project, click on “vote”, and provide the information required.  Remember, you can vote once each day through May 12th.
