The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 5:10 PM, 16-year-old Reese Schulze of Rock Valley was driving a 1998 Buick Le Sabre eastbound on 290th street, about a mile north of Rock Valley. Seventy-four-year-old Leroy Tunender of Madison, SD was driving a 2007 Cadillac Escalade northbound on Elmwood Avenue.

The deputy’s report says Schulze did not stop for a stop sign at Elmwood Avenue and struck the Tunender SUV.

Rock Valley Ambulance personnel took Schulze and two passengers in that vehicle, 15-year-old Austin Rozeboom of Rock Valley and 14-year-old Kilee Sandbulte of Doon; and Tunender and his passenger, 71-year-old Carolyn Roth to Hegg Memorial Hospital.

The Buick sustained about $6,000 in damages, and the Cadillac sustained about $9,000 in damages, according to the deputy’s report.

The deputy says Schulze was cited for failing to obey a stop sign.

The Rock Valley Police Department, Rock Valley Fire Department and Rock Valley Ambulance crew assisted at the scene.
