Rock Valley PD Looking To Hire Furry, Four-Legged Officer

Rock Valley, Iowa — The Rock Valley Police Department is looking to add another officer to their ranks. A furry, four-legged officer.

Rock Valley Police Chief Monte Warburton says his department is looking to add a K-9 to their force for the first time.

Warburton says that, like most communities, Rock Valley has narcotics in the community, as well as all the problems that go with them.

He says there are three basic jobs for which police dogs are trained: Narcotics Detection; Tracking; and Officer Safety, or “Bite” dogs.

Warburton says police K-9’s can be a very valuable resource for law enforcement, but they come with a somewhat steep price tag.

Chief Warburton says, as a result, the Rock Valley Police Department is seeking donations to help defray the costs.

If you’d like to donate, Warburton says you should can contact the Rock Valley City Office, or the Rock Valley Police Department. Checks should be made payable to the “Rock Valley Police Department K-9 Fund,” and he says donations are tax-deductible.
