Rock Valley, Iowa — A Rock Valley teen was taken to the hospital after an accident near Rock Valley on Thursday night.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 6:40 p.m., 15-year-old Jillian Dykstra of Rock Valley was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer northbound on Elmwood Avenue, about three miles south of Rock Valley, when she lost control of her vehicle, which entered the east ditch and rolled.
The Rock Valley Ambulance took Dykstra to Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley.
The Chevrolet sustained approximately $4,000 in damage.
Dykstra was cited on a charge of violation of a minor’s school license restriction. Dykstra’s mother, 40-year-old Rebecca Jacobson of Rock Valley was cited on a charge of allowing an unauthorized minor to drive.
The Sheriff’s Office says the Rock Valley Police Department, Rock Valley Ambulance crew and Rock Valley Fire Department assisted them.
