Rock Rapids, Iowa — A GOP 2016 Presidential Candidate is coming to the area again.
Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum is coming back to the area to wind up his second “Full Grassley” — or tour of all 99 Iowa counties. Santorum also did a 99-county tour the last time he ran for President in 2012. That time he ended up getting the Iowa GOP nomination.
This time Lyon County is the final county in the tour, and to celebrate the fact that Santorum has again been to all 99 counties (the first 2016 candidate to do so), the appearance will take the form of a party. The event will be September 1st at Island Park in Rock Rapids in the large shelter house west of the swimming pool. Doors will open at 5:30 and Pizza Ranch will be catering.
Santorum made a stop in Orange City on July 31st, and one in Sibley on Monday, August 24th.
Actually, his 98th county will be O’Brien County, also on September 1st. That event will be at 2:30 PM, when Senator Santorum will tour and visit with employees at DK Plastics in Archer.
After the Archer and Rock Rapids events, Santorum will address the Iowa FAMiLY Leader Northwest Summit at Dordt College in Sioux Center. The summit will begin at 6:30 PM. Presidential candidate Bobby Jindal is also scheduled to speak along with Sam Clovis and Bob Vander Plaats.
