Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Community Schools Board of Education met in regular session last night (Monday, June 12th). The Board recognized retiring staff members Kris Groff, Barb Vanden Hull, and Noreen Vande Weerd for their years of service to the District.
In other action, the Board approved a pair of Open Enrollment applications, 1 from a Kindergarten student coming into the Sheldon District from the Boyden-Hull Community School District, and the second from a Kindergarten student coming into the Sheldon District from George-Little Rock.
The Board also accepted the resignations of Kylee Cooper as FCS Teacher and FCCLA Advisor, Nicole Schwarz and Breann Getting as Instructional Associates at East Elementary, and Wally Wolthuizen as Bus Driver.
Several employment contracts were approved during Monday’s meeting, as well: Reagan Klinker as 5th & 6th Science and Social Studies Teacher, at a salary of $44,100; Kyle Zankowski, who will be K-6 Physical Education Teacher, High School Head Cross Country Coach, and Head High School Boys Track Coach at a combined salary of $49,235; Nicole Dibbet as High School Assistant Volleyball Coach at a salary of $3,749; Bailey Wollenburg as 9th Grade Volleyball Coach at a salary of $3,074; Levi Letsche as 9th Grade Football Coach at a salary of $3,074; Heath Anderson as High School Head Girls Basketball Coach, and High School Assistant Football Coach, at a combined salary of 9,373; Danielle Nasers as Middle School Volleyball Coach at a salary of $2,512; and Jason Groendyke as Middle School Girls Basketball Coach at a salary of $2,512.
The Board also approved an agreement to share an Industrial Technology Teacher with Boyden-Hull, with that teacher splitting their time between the two school districts. The Board approved a contract with Brice Montgomery to fill that position at a salary of $40,800, half of which will be reimbursed to the Sheldon District by Boyden-Hull.
In other action, the Board approved the purchase of 506 Chrome Book computers, 15 laptops, 10 desktop computers, and 68 iPads at a total cost of $130,040.
