School Board To Meet Monday

Sheldon-Schools-logoSheldon, Iowa — When the Sheldon Community Schools Board of Education meets in regular session Monday night they’ll face several items of business.

In addition to the monthly business items, the Board will deal with a pair of open enrollment applications, two employment contracts, and two resignations.

The Board will also take a look at the proposed District Calendar for the 2017-18 school year, be asked to approve a Spanish Club trip to Costa Rica, and review bids for new school buses.

In other action, the Board is scheduled to designate two Board members to work with the Superintendent as the School District Negotiation Team that will work with the teacher’s union on compensation packages for the 2017-18 school year.

The Board is scheduled to wrap up their meeting with a Closed Session for a Quarterly Evaluation Conference with Superintendent Robin Spears.

Monday’s meeting will begin at 5:00 pm in the high school library.

Unemployment rate drops in April

The April unemployment rate dropped to two-point-eight percent compared to two-point-nine percent in March. Iowa Workforce Development director, Beth Townsend, says
