Sheldon, Iowa — When the Sheldon City Council met yesterday (Wednesday, November 17th) there was an item on their agenda for the “approval of Library Director”, however that item was passed by in the meeting. Now we know why.
According to Jessica Brink of the Sheldon Public Library Board of Trustees, they had made an initial offer of the Library Director position to a candidate, but that individual declined the offer of employment.
Brink told KIWA that the Library Board was disappointed by the decline of their offer, since they believed the candidate would be a perfect fit for the position.
She says the Library Board’s next step is to contact the other applicants for the position to gauge their interest in the position at this point, and the ones who are still interested will go back into the pool of possible candidates to be considered for the position.
Citing the upcoming holidays, Brink offered no timetable for the hiring of a new Library Director. The position became available upon the departure earlier this month of former Director Ruth Rodvik.
