Sheldon, Iowa — When the Sheldon City Council meets in regular session this Wednesday afternoon (November 2nd), their agenda will include several items pertaining to the City’s Emergency Service Departments.
At their meeting, the Council is expected to approve a resolution hiring Trent Morton as Sheldon’s 8th police officer. Morton’s hiring will fill the position left by the resignation of Sergeant Todd Wood at the end of September. The Council is also expected to approve a Justice Department grant award for K9 equipment, food and medical care for the police department K9. Another agenda item impacting the Sheldon Police Department is a pending resolution approving the police department’s membership in the regional HEAT, or High-Risk Entry and Arrest Team, which is a regional SWAT team.
In other action, the Council is expected to adopt emergency ambulance charges, as well as approve an affiliation agreement between the Sheldon Community Ambulance Team (SCAT) and the Sanborn Ambulance (SAM).
The Council is also expected to accept the resignation of Denny Kruger as the Chief of the Sheldon Fire Company. Kruger’s resignation letter indicates that he intends to retire at the end of November.
Wednesday’s meeting of the Sheldon City Council will be called to order at 4:30 pm in Council Chambers at the Sheldon Community Services Center.
