Sheldon City Council To Talk About Possible County Ambulance Levy With County EMA Director

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council will meet in regular session on Wednesday, March 19th, 2025. The meeting is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers at the Sheldon Community Services Center, downtown.

On their consent agenda is the claims list, financial reports, a liquor license renewal for Breu Haus, and a temporary wine permit for Top of Iowa Lucky Wife at Sweet Puddle Jumpers. Unless a council member requests an item be voted on separately, the council will vote on all of these items with one vote.

In new business, the council will discuss an amendment to the tobacco license for Highway Liquor and Smoke Shop, to add glass and metal devices.

The council will hear a report from O’Brien County Emergency Management Agency Director Jared Johnson, who will provide a general update and talk about the status of O’Brien County’s support of the Sheldon Community Ambulance Team, including possible discussions on declaration as an “essential service,” which would allow for an election on a countywide ambulance levy.

The meeting will be at 4:30 p.m. this Wednesday in the council chambers on the upper level of the Sheldon Community Services Center at 416 9th Street in Sheldon.
