Sheldon Contingent Attending State School Board Convention

Sheldon, Iowa — More than eleven hundred school board members, including a contingent from the Sheldon Community Schools, are gathered in Des Moines this week for the 74th annual Iowa Association of School Boards Convention.

Three of the five Sheldon school board members, along with the superintendent and board secretary, are taking part in this year’s convention. Sheldon Superintendent Cory Myer told KIWA Wednesday morning that he and school board president Kecia Hickman were attending the Delegate Assembly, while Board Secretary Tracy Meyer was attending training for business managers at the convention.

Myer says new school board member Steve Waldstein had planned to attend, as well, but had a conflict arise that prevented him from making the trip. He says board vice president Susan Rensink and board member Jessica Brink will be joining the Sheldon contingent in Des Moines on Thursday.

The convention is underway through Thursday at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines.
