The council held a public hearing on the fiscal year 2015-2016 proposed budget. No oral or written comments were received. The draft budget was approved for publication.

The council approved pay estimate number two on the Sheldon Regional Airport Runway Rehabilitation project to McClure Engineering in the amount of $12,366.46.

Next, the council approved a proposal from DGR Engineering for a hydraulic modeling and storage study for the city’s water system. Sheldon Public Works director Todd Uhl says the study is important especially if the city builds a new water tower. DGR says phase one will cost $19,700, and phase two will cost $16,500. Council member Ron Rensink says the project is worth the money and needs to be done.

In the comments that followed the meeting, Rensink also stated that he is proud of the public library getting their budget under control. Those sentiments were echoed by Sheldon Mayor Katricia Meendering.
