Sheldon Council Has Lengthy Agenda For Wednesday Meeting

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council has a lengthy agenda for their meeting this Wednesday, October 7th.

Many of the items are on the ‘consent agenda’. These are all acted on in one motion, and there is no separate discussion on any item unless a request is made for separate discussion before the council votes.  Wednesday’s agenda will include the approval of a SCAT membership application for Brian Wielenga and the appointment of Tara Roorda as a Reserve Police Officer.

In other action, the council will set a hearing date for the Zoning Ordinance amendment on swimming pool fences, and another hearing for the Zoning Ordinance amendment regarding storage sheds.  The consent agenda also includes approval of engineering services for the 4th Street sewer rehabilitation project, closeout and property transfer of the DJ’s demolition project and a resolution of approval of the Urban Renewal Report for the previous fiscal year.

Under New Business, the council will hold a hearing on the lease of farm land near the East Lawn Cemetery  and consider a request by a resident to keep chickens and ducks on their property.  There will also be a presentation of an Urban Forest Management Plan.

Wednesday afternoon’s meeting begins at 4:30 in the upper level of the Sheldon Community Services Center.
