Sheldon High School Awards Day 2019

Sheldon, Iowa — It was Awards Day for Sheldon High School Students Wednesday morning, with numerous awards and scholarships being presented.

Each year, Sheldon seniors who are planning to pursue a career in the teaching and nursing professions are eligible for the John N. and Irene E. Bowers Memorial Scholarship. The recipients of the Bowers scholarships for 2019 were Madeline Oostra, Jocelin Farias, and Kinley Baatz.

Many other scholarships were presented at Wednesday morning’s Awards Day, including the Bruno & Sarah Saupe Memorial Scholarship, which went to Mikayla Simonsen; the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center Sanford Health Network Scholarship and Heart of Tomorrow Scholarship, both of which went to Cody Vaselaar; the Linda K. DeGroot -Village Northwest Unlimited ‘Spirit of Caring’ Scholarship was awarded to McKenzie Wagner; Sheldon Lion’s Club “Volunteer Scholarship” to Madeline Oostra, along with numerous other scholarships and awards.
