Sheldon Library Group Talks About Becoming Heart Of Community

Sheldon, Iowa — Discussion continues on Tuesday night, April 24th at the Sheldon Public Library as to how the library should fit into the bigger picture of the Sheldon community.

Nicole Morgan, the director of the library says that the Sheldon Public Library Board is looking forward to the future and becoming the “heart of the community.” In working toward that goal, she says they are implementing a strategic planning process that involves members of the Sheldon community.

She says they are following a model developed by the Public Library Association, called “Planning for Results.” Bonnie McKewon, with the State Library of Iowa (Northwest District Office, Sioux City), is assisting the Sheldon Public Library with this process. She says the intent is to set a direction for the library by prioritizing library services that best meet the needs of the local community.

She says the group has met once, about a month ago.

Morgan tells us about the initial discussion.

This Tuesday’s meeting will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the library.
