Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Community School Board met in regular session Wednesday with a wide array of items on their agenda.
During the meeting, the Board approved the purchase eight new SMART Boards for various classrooms. Superintendent Cory Myer explained that a SMART Board is something like an oversized iPad.
The District received bids from two different companies for the new SMART Boards, accepting the low bid of Tierney for a total cost of just over $27,000. Myer says this isn’t a one-time purchase. He says the District replaces a few SMART Boards nearly every year.
In other action, the School Board approved the purchase of a new school bus at a cost of $117,237. Less than $2,300 separated the three bids that were submitted, with the Board approving the low bid for a Bluebird Bus from School Bus Sales.
Pan-O-Gold Baking Company was the only company to submit a bread bid for next school year, so that bid was accepted. Pan-O-Gold is the company that furnished the bread products for the school year just ended and Myer says the District was very pleased with the company.
And the Board selected Prairie Farms/LOL as the provider of milk products for next school year. They were the lowest of the two suppliers to submit bids.
