Sheldon School Board Approves Purchases, Other Items

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon School Board met in regular session on Wednesday evening and approved some purchases, among some other agenda items.

The board approved one open enrollment into the district from MOC/Floyd Valley, and one out of the district to attend a virtual academy. They also approved one teacher resignation, one instructional associate resignation, and three food service resignations. They also approved seven contracts.

The board approved participation in the free and reduced-price lunch program. They accepted bids for bread and milk for the upcoming year. The bread bid went to Pan-o-Gold Baking Company, and the milk bid went to Dean Foods.

The board set the athletic ticket cost for the coming school year. All prices will remain the same, with student activity tickets at $30, adult coupon books at $40 for 10 tickets, and student/adult admission fee at $5.

The board also approved bids on the purchases of a 2018 Expedition Max XLT from Drenkow Motors in Sheldon at a cost of $47,900; 335 computers from Firefly Computers at a cost of $87,100; and 17 smart boards from Tierney Brothers at a cost of about $59,147.

The annual cooperative athletic agreement with St. Patrick’s School was approved, with no changes to the fee formula.

The board approved three volunteer football coaches. They also approved a three-percent raise for administration officials. Plus, they included a two-year revolving contract for the principals and superintendent.
