Sheldon United Fund Needs Strong Boost To Reach Goal

Sheldon, Iowa — If you’re looking to spread a little holiday cheer, the 2018 Sheldon United Fund could sure use some help.

The drive continues for one more week — through the rest of the year. The goal this year is $31,000.

The fund drive is now 92% finished. The funds are only at about 78% of goal, at $24,236. Over $6700 has yet to be raised in the final week of the drive. In the last week, donors gave $200. Hopefully people will consider a year-end tax write-off and give generously to the United Fund.

Contributions to any or all of the organizations served by the Sheldon United Fund may be left at any of the four Sheldon banks, or you can also send them to PO Box 41, Sheldon, IA 51201. Explanations of the organizations are also available at the banks.

Each week we’re mentioning a few of the organizations that can benefit from your donations. This time the list includes:

·Sheldon Boy Scouts
·Children’s World
·Compass Pointe (alcohol & drug treatment center)
·Dolly Parton Imagination Library (provides books for Sheldon CSD students)
·Family Crisis Center of Northwest Iowa
·Foster Grandparent Program
·Sheldon Girl Scouts

The United Fund will be assisting 21 different organizations in Sheldon and the surrounding communities this year, and the board members thank the businesses and individuals of Sheldon and the surrounding communities for their continued support. They say donations are welcome through December 31st.
