Sibley City Administrator Also A Finalist For Spencer Position

Spencer, Iowa — The name of another finalist for the Spencer City Manager position has been released — and it’s another person from our area.

Rock Rapids native and current Sibley City Administrator/Economic Development Director and Utility Superintendent Glenn Anderson is also a finalist for the Spencer position.

According to Spencer Human Resource Manager Jessica Wright, Anderson has been working for the City of Sibley for seven years. He has worked as City Administrator and Economic Development Director for the city of Ackley and held a similar position in Rock Rapids.

Prior to that, Anderson says he worked as a consultant assisting businesses interested in new development with Tax Increment Financing and worked directly with businesses and local government entities by educating them on TIF and other business incentives and financing for development projects. Anderson has also said he finds it personally fulfilling to work directly with individuals who have developmental disabilities, behavioral or mental health issues to educate, guide, and support them with basic life skills. Anderson holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education/Social Sciences from Northwestern College.

The other two finalists are Paula Kay Cmelik and Al Roder. The City of Spencer council, staff and a community panel will host the three later this month for interviews.

Anderson’s name was initially withheld at his request as he had been a finalist for a county administrator position in Minnesota.
