Sioux Center, Iowa — A woman living in Sioux Center was arrested recently on identity theft charges.

The Sioux Center Police Department reports that they arrested 26-year-old Lavreana Morales-Ramos on a warrant for failure to appear and on four new charges.

According to court documents, the warrant for failure to appear was on one count of identity theft and two counts of forgery, that happened when she obtained employment at Center Fresh Egg in Sioux Center in July of 2015, allegedly using the identity of a Texas woman.

The new charges include identity theft, two more counts of forgery, and possession of a false license or ID card. Court documents say that the alleged crimes happened when she obtained employment at Golden Crisp in Sioux Center, allegedly using the identity of an Arizona woman.

According to Sioux County Jail records, Morales-Ramos was released the next day after she posted bail.

The earlier count of identity theft is a class D felony. The latter is a class C felony. The forgery counts are all class D felonies, and the possession of a false license or ID card count is a serious misdemeanor.

If she is convicted of a class C felony, Iowa code says she will face up to 10 years in prison and a fine of between a thousand and ten thousand dollars. It says if she is convicted of a class D felony, she would face a five-year prison term and a fine of between $750 and $7500.
