Northwest Iowa — A storm system moved through our area Sunday night, and while it didn’t bring much in the way of rain, it made up for it with strong, gusty winds, some of which reached more than 60 mph.
The National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for northeast O’Brien County about 8:00 Sunday evening, with the Warning set to last for just over half an hour.
Brad Temeyer, of the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, says the storm had its origins in South Dakota, before moving into northwest Iowa.
Temeyer says the gusty winds were the major compenent of these severe storms.
Looking ahead, Temeyer there are some thunderstorms expected later this week, as well.
