Trial For Algona Man Accused Of Shooting Police Officer Pushed Back Again

Algona, Iowa — The trial for the Algona man charged with murdering a police officer in that community has been pushed back yet again, in Kossuth County.

Kyle Ricke, who is accused of killing Officer Kevin Cram back in September 2023, was originally scheduled to go to trial on December 13, 2023. Ricke has pleaded not guilty to one count of first-degree murder. The trial is now scheduled for June 25, 2024. However, experts say murder trials are commonly pushed back several times before they actually happen.

Prosecutors accuse Ricke of fatally shooting Officer Cram while Cram was trying to serve him an arrest warrant. Ricke was later captured in Minnesota and extradited to Iowa.
