Two Deaths, Twenty-Three New COVID Cases Reported In Area Sunday

Northwest Iowa — Two deaths and twenty-three new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the four-county area Sunday.

According to the Iowa Department of Public Health reports one additional death in Sioux County with another in Osceola County. That brings the total number of deaths in our area to one-hundred-sixteen; forty-eight in O’Brien County, forty-one in Sioux County, twenty-one in Lyon County and six in Osceola County since the pandemic began.

In addition,  twenty-three new COVID cases were reported Sunday: sixteen in Sioux County, bringing their total to 4,194; O’Brien County saw three new cases, bringing their total to 1,532; Lyon County also reported three new cases, bringing their total to 1,188; and Osceola reported one new case, for a total of 600.

Recovery rates for each of our four counties look like this:
Out of the 1,188 Lyon County residents who tested positive for COVID-19, 953 have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 81%.
Of the 4,194 Sioux County residents to test positive, 3,581 have recovered, for a rate of about 86%.
Of the 1,532 O’Brien County residents who have tested positive, 1,236 have recovered, for a rate of about 81%.
Of the 600 Osceola County residents to test positive for COVID-19, 500 have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 83%.
