Northwest Iowa — Two Sioux Falls-based healthcare companies, both of which have facilities in the KIWA listening area, are among the top 25 largest healthcare companies in the United States.
Becker’s Hospital Review reports that Sanford Health ranks 14th, with 46 hospitals, including hospitals in: Sheldon; Orange City; Canton, South Dakota; and Worthington and Luverne, Minnesota.
The report ranks Avera Health 23rd, with 35 hospitals, including hospitals in: Rock Rapids, Sibley; Rock Valley; Sioux Center; Le Mars; and Spirit Lake.
Just one Iowa healthcare system made the list. MercyOne, of West Des Moines is ranked 31st, with 25 hospitals, including MercyOne in Primghar.
Mayo Clinic Health System in Rochester is ranked 39th, with 20 hospitals. One of Mayo’s hospitals, St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester, is ranked as the 4th largest hospital in the nation, with 1,318 beds.
